We spoke with Gabriella Király, the shopping street manager at BUM (Shopping Street Management), about the importance of development and how this is reflected in the daily operations of their organization.

Why do you believe the ability to develop is important?
Continuous development is essential both at the individual and organizational levels. It’s important that we constantly renew ourselves so that we can respond effectively to changes. Nothing is permanent in our world, so being prepared for unexpected situations is crucial. The best foundation for this is ongoing self-improvement and business development. Shopping Street Management is one such organization that not only monitors changes in its environment and pays attention to the feedback and needs of its partners, but also actively seeks innovative solutions and opportunities for renewal. This attitude is not only present at the organizational level, but also among employees and contractors, who regularly develop their skills and attend training programs and events to expand their existing knowledge.
Is that why you participated in this year’s Digital Marketing Forum?
Exactly. More than 1,800 people attended this year’s top digital marketing event. The core mission of the Digital Forum is to support the digital maturity and business growth of companies and organizations operating in Hungary. Among the key topics was the broad integration of artificial intelligence into daily operations. The event covered a wide range of subjects, including data-driven marketing, various types of web analytics and measurement, email automation, faster video production, the use of specialized apps, sustainability, the intersection of marketing and AI, podcasts, webinars, smart city strategies, urban marketing, city management, and many other themes related to the digital marketing world.
Does your organization use artificial intelligence?
Yes, we utilize AI capabilities in several areas of our operations, and we are constantly seeking information that can make our work more efficient and effective. Artificial intelligence doesn’t work instead of us - it works with us, making daily tasks easier, whether it’s translation, image editing, or any other kind of content creation. This is also why we participate in events like the Digital Marketing Forum - to find new inspiration and ideas.
You mentioned that your team also pursues training. In what form does this happen?
Whenever possible, our team members participate in formal training sessions. However, we are always on the lookout for free opportunities to expand our knowledge. One of our colleagues recently completed a Canva course with outstanding results, significantly enhancing their skills in digital design and visual communication. Another colleague is currently attending a free training course focused on social media platforms, where they’re gaining both in-depth knowledge of specific tools (such as platform usage, advertising options, and content creation techniques) and a broader strategic perspective on digital channel management. The knowledge we acquire is not only used to boost our organization’s success, but we also strive to share it with small business owners whenever we can.
Staying up to date is essential - we should never settle for our current level of knowledge. It must be continuously nurtured and expanded.
